Jennifer or Jen Selter is an American fitness model that has gained attention of millions of people through social media. She owes it to her formed bottom, which she displays in almost every photograph. She became famous in 2012 when she started posting photos of her butt on her instagram and since then, she, or better said her butt, has won over 6.8 million followers. This made Jen an international celebrity.
How did it start with Jen?
Jennifer worked at the gym reception in 2012 and always admired people who came to work out, whether it was raining or the sun was shining. She says, “I noticed changes in their bodies, which also affected me and I began to crave for change.” She also started to work out and after about a year her buttocks “rounded” and got firmer. Therefore, she decided to share the results on her Instagram. In a short time, her efforts began to pay off and the number of her followers began to rise.
The media was thrilled by her growing bottom, so Jen showed up in The New York Post, New York Magazine, and later Huffington Post, Elle, Vanity Fair and People magazine. Over time, she has gained sponsors and offers from clothing brands such as Nike and some nutritional supplement companies.
When the number of her fans grew to 500, she made a crucial decision and left work. Somehow, she suspected that posting “belfies” (butt selfie ) can bring her some benefits. She even created her own #seltering hashtag that describes how she poses in order to show her butt as best as possible.
It isn’t a walk in the park
Of course, Jen Selter also has her critics who still claim she has undergone plastic surgery and has implants or others who not like the rest of her body. Just read the enormous amount of comments a few seconds after she posts a photo on her Instagram.
According to Menshealth Jen is a modern phenomenon because social media has turned her into a fitness expert just because she looks fit. Jennifer has no education or certificate. But as she says, she doesn’t even try to qcquire any: “I got fitness tips from personal trainers and friends, but I like to do things the way I do.”
The New York Post even has a fitness column called “Kicking Butt”, in which she helps with advice, motivation, fitness ideas and, according to Menshealth, often outdated counseling. Outdated because her tips and explanations of some of the processes in the body have been disproved for a long time.Although she certainly has good intentions and does not endanger people, she technically spreads myths.
One way or another, Jen Selter is a fitness inspiration for many people and she has admitted that her life mission is to motivate and inspire people and not to be a fitness expert. She never trained any client except her mother. She also did not miss the attention of a million of her followers. It was not just an enviable photo of Jen’s ass, but there was also her 26 years older mom Jill, who has a body almost identical to her daughter’s. Reportedly, she’s got it by hard work and personal training with Jen.
Jen Selter & diet
Jen’s diet involves eating small protein and carbohydrate meals during the day. Her mantra is:
• less sugar, more fruit
• less mineral water, more pure water
• less stress, more sleep
• less words, more acts
Jen Selter likes to eat dark chocolate during the week to reduce sweet cravings. On Sundays, she likes to enjoy ice cream as her “cheat meal”. She uses the pre-workout Animal pump, which deepens her workouts and increases muscle mass. She also uses whey proteins after training which helps her muscle regeneration and rapid protein absorption.
Jen believes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so she never forgets it. In the morning, she would enjoy yogurt, oatmeal with fruit and peanut butter, or toasts with egg whites. She pays attention to receiving enough vitamins and fiber in the form of fruits and vegetables that start the metabolism. As far as lunch is concerned, she likes Caesar or Greek salad or spicy tuna with vegetables.
Everyday meals are divided into 5 parts, with the last meal being served at 7 p.m. at the latest, so as not to burden her stomach for night. For dinner, she likes to eat pasta with grilled chicken and vegetables, steak or sushi. This young lady adds regular walks to her healthy diet. She walks everywhere when it’s possible and she also thinks that an everyday 4 km walk is enough to shape your figure.

The best butt exercise
According to her, an effective exercise for a perfect butt is one where you lie on your back and put your feet high up at a right angle to your body. Then you alternately lower one foot down to the ground the way that you don’t touch the floor. Jen claims that only perseverance and hard work will bring you a dream figure.
Interview with Jen Selter
How do you feel about the fact that you are an inspiration for women?
Wow. If I look at it like this, it sounds amazing. I am honored to be considered an inspiration. Like everyone, I have bad days, but I know I can inspire others – even if only one person out there keeps me going.
What do you want your followers to know about achieving perfection?
The only thing I want people to know is that there is no “perfect body”. I don’t think so about my body either. Like any other woman, I could change a lot of things on myself. I think that we should all strive to be the best version of ourselves, both internally and externally. There are so many things on my body that I can’t change. But there are other things that I can control, so I focus on them.
What do you want people to take from your Instagram account?
I want everyone to know – especially other women – that this is not a competition. I think self-reflection is important for all of us, but it is also important to recognize that everyone is blessed with unique beauty. I think we should all learn to live with who we are and just try to be a better version of ourselves. Besides, I think it is important not to worry too much about what others think about us or what they say about us. You’re fantastic. Do whatever you want and be different. Everyone can pretend to be someone else, but only you can really be you.
What makes you so self-confident?
It was not always like this but I learned that confidence can only come from within. Too often – especially these days, with social media and cyber bullying – we let others and the outside world dictate to us how we should see ourselves. I was trying to get rid of this outside noise and focus my attention on myself. I feel confident when I know that I am right and believe in my values, and when I feel that I have worked hard to be the best I can be.
Did your self confidence increase as the number of your followers rapidly increased ?
Yes and no. On the one hand, all the attention was very flattering. On the other hand, the spotlights attract even the worst kind of attention. Perverted or annoying comments. None of us is perfect. I know I’m still far from perfection and we all have some imperfections. However, it is not easy if someone else pulls them out and reminds you of them. So I try to focus on the positive things and the support from my fans also helps me a lot.
How do you deal with negative comments?
There will always be negative comments on social networks that cannot be controlled. The best thing you can do is to ignore them and not take them personally. Positive comments have more power than negative ones. I love interacting with my fans on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat and I just ignore hate.
They say that you train your mother. How is it going?
It was a big boom! Training with her was a great experience and seeing her progress really inspires me. She has a good work ethics and you can really see it. I hope I’ll look like her when I’m her age.
Have you experienced obstacles during training together?
Training with her had its challenges. Her body behaves a little differently than mine and I have to keep reminding myself about it. But it’s also fun. Usually, she is the boss, but in the gym it’s me!
